Today we will get all the election results from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. These are not the general elections of the state but only the Bye-elections. The total seats in contention are 4 Loksabha (Parliament Lower House) and 18 Assembly. The elections for these constituencies were conducted last Thursday.

Based on the news from TV9, ETV2 Telugu news channels, we are expecting the initial trends to start coming from 10:30AM on Sunday June 1st 2008 -so somewhere around 11AM you can expect the first result. Even though these are bye-elections this is going to be a big day in Andhra Pradesh as the state is going to go for the full level Assembly General Elections early next year. The people who will win these bye-elections will have their seats for less than a year.

Most of these bye-elections in AP are from the Telangana region and these elections are being viewed as a referendum to the Telangana Cause headed by the former union minister K Chandrasekar Rao. All these elections are being conducted since all the 4 MPs of Loksabha and 16 Assembly MLAs of AP assembly (TRS members) resigned in support of the Telangana statehood issue - demanding a separate Telangana State.

With the recent debacle in Karnataka by the Congress, it is going to be a very important result for the central party. Telugu Desam Party (Chandra Babu Naidu) is also trying to do the best and be prepared morally in a good state for the 2009 general elections.

1. The results declared comprises of Candidates Selected in the First Merit List and First Waiting list.

2. The Candidates in the Second Waiting List will be intimated on 9 June 2008.

3. The Candidates in the Third Waiting List will be intimated on 16 June 2008.

CST | Central Sales Tax Cut by 2 percent

Central Sales Tax ( CST ) Cut by 2% by the Government of India - June 1st 2008.

So for a change I thought of giving some other news than mentioning about Jobs and Results, this is related to the Current Affairs. The good news is that the Union Ministry of Finance, Government of India has cut the Central Sales Tax - (CST as it is generally called) by 2%.

As per the notification issued by the Finance Ministry (headed by P Chidambaram), a government spokesperson said in New Delhi that the Central Sales Tax, a levy on inter-state sale of goods, will be reduced to two per cent from the current three from June one (3% to 2% from June 1 2008), which is a delay of two months from the earlier proposal. "The Finance Ministry issued a notification today, bringing into effect from June 1, 2008 the new reduced rate of CST of 2 per cent on inter-State sales of goods," an official release said.

As per the earlier information during the Central Budget this changes was supposed to be in effect from the beginning of this Fiscal year - so clearly this was delayed by 2 months (April, May) - Just as they say never late than ever. The delay is being attributed to the differences between the State government and the Central Government - the point of contention was that the revenue loss that the States will have to incur with this and the subsequent compensation packages.

As per the earlier information provided at the time of admission and entrance exam notification by NIMCET, 31st May 2008 was the date when the NIMCET results were tentatively expected to be declared.

As of now the news from their official website is still the same and there is no change in schedule in any of the important dates. The websites that they mentioned - where we can expect these results are down and are not coming, it is very obvious that the load on these servers is very high.

From the latest information that is available on the website of the school board, there are some results that were announced recently. From all the school websites that I was tracking in the last few days (Since it is a results season), the one website that I really liked is of Haryana's. They actually compiled very good data and they made it available, also the performance of this website is really good.

I have been observing from few days that the websites where students can find important information like these are not working correctly, many times either the sites are down or they are too slow to be accessed from slow internet connections. We need to note that most of the educational institutions and boards are coming up with websites of their own and unlike the olden days they are publishing all the information about the exams, notifications etc on the website. So while they do these good things to catch up with the internet world, they also have to ensure that they invest sufficiently on the infrastructure that can support these systems without any downtime.

Anyways something is better than nothing.

Indian Premier League and its Impact

Amongst everything that is happening today few things are taking prominence they are exams, admissions, notifications for students and the recent political development related to Karnataka Elections outcome and the rising inflation, talk about increasing the petrol and Diesel prices. So some of the above topics sound good and exciting and some are not.

But one thing that is driving the people of India crazy these days is Indian Premier League. It definitely made its impact and is a huge success in its inaugural series. DLF must be proud and also all the 8 sponsors who own DLF IPL T20 Cricket teams.

The impact is so much that sometimes it equals India Pakistan Cricket Match - people started showing some regional feelings and for the first time Indians also - at least few -Sachin Tendulkar to be out and also wanted Kumble not to take any wickets. This is the outcome of IPL that is changing the way people used to watch and digest cricket.

With matches that were very close the excitement and the tension is just increasing, I am sure people are watching the IPL Points table all the team to see if their favorite team is making it to the semi finals or not. I hope the quality of cricket remains the same and the people who are watching these games will continue to get the value of their time and money.

So with so much happening in the shorter version of this game it will be very interesting to see how the traditional forms of 5 day test matches and 1 day international cricket matches will be handled. People are expecting things to move fast like any other games and after a long wait their desires came true with the 20-20 version of this game. So once people being used to this form of Cricket I am sure the demand and craze for the traditional versions will come down.

And if this series is scheduled every year and with at least one another series outside of India 20-20 is going to stay and there is a risk for other versions of the cricket. People may not see the real talent that we can see sometimes in the full version of the game.

There is news that the University of Pune, Maharashtra - results and admissions will be out very soon. This information is as per some of the online blogs and site. I am not sure why but I cannot access the universities website - http://unipune.ernet.in/. I could access it some days back but from the last 2 days it is not coming up. May be the load on this page is too high or the server is down.

As soon as I hear anything on these results for various courses that are being offered by the University of Pune, I will post the most updated and relevant information. The results of Chhattisgarh board for SSLC/SSC have not yet been announced, although there is news that they will be out at any point of time. I did check the website of the board for any new information and did find that there are a series of other notifications available, some of them are for these courses too. You need to enter the roll number as per you hall ticket and get your information. I did found some Hindi stuff there and it was very cool, even the title in the web browser is coming in Hindi. I am sure there will be a lot of people who took these exams in Hindi Medium. Note Chattisgarh was part of Madhya Pradesh and only few years back it was given a status of a separate state.

Even though they are saying likely to be announced, there are high chances that the results will come as mentioned today.

The results that are being announced today are only for class 12th (UP Plus 2, +2 results).

Karnataka Loksabha Elections 2009

Assembly Elections:
Counting of votes has begun in the recently concluded 3 phase elections for the Karnataka State Assembly. All eyes are on the results as BJP, Congress and JDS are fighting it out in a 3 way context. Counting started today morning (SUN 25th May) and by afternoon we will get to know on the most part of the results and the trends are already started to come while I am writing this post (9:00AM).

With the country's general elections (India Parliament, Loksabha) due next year, the results of these elections will have some indications for the election campaign from major political parties. It will again be interesting to see the post results alliances in the state as the early counting indicates that no single party is going to get an absolute majority. In the past all possible alliances in the top parties have taken an ugly ending.

The early trends indicate that BJP is leading in the counting of votes and Congress is giving a very tough fight and is not very behind. JDS is in the third position and is doing decent enough to influence the overall government formation in the State. Last time also BJP emerged as the single largest party and it went into an ugly alliance with JDS on Chief Minister sharing deal - It didn't work out as JDS intelligently backed out after their turn was over.

Today was the last phase of the assembly elections in Karnataka. The elections were conducted in 3 phases that went on peacefully all over the state.

Like any other elections this time too it is going to be a tough fight for the top national parties and one regional party. In the past two exit polls for the previous 2 phases there were signs of BJP being in the lead, but no clear indications were there for it to emerge as the single largest party. Nor things were clear for the previously ruling Congress party. JD S - Deve Gowda's party is expected to do not so well when compared to the last Karnataka assembly elections.

As per NDTC this round of elections too the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to do better than the other parties. BJP is expected to win in this phase around 30-40 seats. Congress is expected to do a little better than last time with around 20-30 seats and the JDS is expected to win 10-12 seats.

So in a nutshell BJP is going to emerge as the single largest party in the state, it is very interesting to see if it can form its first full time government in South India. This will be a big morale booster for the parliament elections next year. This will set the tone for the elections campaign and anti-establishment votes.

Pass Percentages of ICSE and ISC
The pass percentage of ICSE students is 98.04 per cent, while the ISC students have scored 97.04 pass percentage.

Distribution across Boys and Girls
Girls have done better than boys in both the ICSE and ISC examinations. Girls have passed the ISC exams with 98.23 %, while boys have got 96.10 %.

Toppers List
Janki Kriti Seth from Sulachana Devi Singhania public school, Mumbai has topped the ICSE exam with 98.6 per cent marks.
Shruti Singh from St Joseph School, Varanasi has got 98.6 per cent marks.

2008 ICSE Results

The results for the ICSE (Class X) and ISC 2008 (Class XII) will be declared after May 20, 2008.

The Delhi-based Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which conducts the ICSE and ISC examinations all over India, and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare their results any day after May 20.

ICSC, ICSE and ISC Results will be made available online.

According to one the CISCE official -

“The process of tabulating the results of ICSE and ISC 2008 is in full swing. We are taking all possible steps to ensure that the students get to know their results in time,” the additional secretary and officiating chief executive of the ICSE/ISC board said.

An court ruling has made it compulsory for every school board to declare the results of the Class XII exams latest by June 10 every year to facilitate their further admissions for higher education.

Elections/Voting for Phase 2 elections in the southern state of Karnataka is complete today.
According to NDTV Exit Poll The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has maintained its lead in Karnataka by gaining in phase two of the. The saffron party is expected to get around 32 to 42 seats with a swing of 3% in its favour.

However, the poll suggests that rival and top contender Congress will get 15 to 20 seats, so it means a negative swing of one per cent for the Central Party. The Janata Dal - Secular is facing a negative swing of two per cent and is slated to get somewhere between eight to 12 seats whereas other partiesare expected get two to four seats.

These poll results are raising hope for BJP to form a Government of its own. Lets see how correct these results will be.

Karnataka Elections, Exit Poll and Results for the assembly election

Karnataka Parliament Elections 2009

10th of May 2008 the state assembly elections will take place in Karnataka. These elections will take place in three phases on 10th, 16th and 22nd of May, 2008. These elections are very important in the national politics because these elections can tell some expected trends in next year General elections for the Indian Parliament Lok Sabha. For the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), these elections are very important because it wants to complete its dream of making first time BJP lead the government in any southern state.

It almost got a chance of fulfilling this dream but because of the political drama by Deve Gowda (JD S) prevented this for the BJP.

Congress also wants to regain their political control over Karnataka once again, whereas the JD(S) wants to play a role of king maker in Karnataka assembly by winning some sizeable seats in the assembly. Now to know exactly which party will be able to complete its dreams, we need to wait till 25th May when counting of votes will start for the elections held on 10th, 16th and 22nd May. At present, there are few pre poll exit poll surveys results from various TV channels and News papers media that are available in front of us which indicate some kind of mood of the people of Karnataka.

According to most of the pre-poll surveys, Congress is going to emerge as single largest party in Karnataka and will get seats equal to or slight less than majority. Congress is expected to get 100-115 seats in these elections, while BJP is expected to get 55-65, JD(S) 30-40 and others 10-15 seats. There are total 224 seats in Karnataka assembly and therefore, any party can make government by getting 113 seats.

Therefore, chances of Congress making next government in Karnataka are very high as per these exit polls. It looks that people of Karnataka want stability and they look congress as an alternative to provide them with stable government. However, these are only expected results and these results can vary significantly after results.

The combined results of the exit poll for the first phase of assembly elections show BJP emerging as the leader. The saffron party is winning 31 seats in the first phase of the polls with an 11 per cent swing in its favour.

The Congress, on the other hand, is winning 23 seats, thereby facing a negative swing of five per cent. The JDS is winning 30 seats, which is a swing of six per cent against it. The first phase of the Karnataka elections were held in the south of the state where traditionally the BJP is weak. The south is Vokaliga area and they support Deve Gowda's JDS.

Over 7,000 people were asked who they voted for after they came out of the polling booth. NDTV on its website claim that there exit polls were very accurate in Karnataka state since they began Exit polls in 1984.

GRADUATE ENGINEERS / HR / CA / ICWA JOB VACANCIES @ INDIAN OIL CORPORATION LIMITED (IOCL)

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) plans to recruit around 400 Engineers/Officers/ HR Professionals/ CA/ ICWA/ Graduate Apprentice Engineers.

Applications are invited from young and energetic persons for about 400 positions in the various engineering disciplines like Chemical (including petrochemicals), Mechanical (Excluding Production/ Industrial Engg.), Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation, Computer Science/ Information Technology, Metallurgy, Fire Engineering, Boiler Operations (BOEs) & other disciplines covering Human Resources and Finance (CA/ICWA only).

Qualification : The prescribed qualifications with minimum 65% marks in respect of Engineering disciplines ( Engineering / Technology (Chemical [including Petrochemicals], Mechanical [excluding Production/Industrial Engg.], Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation including Electronics & Instrumentation(excluding Electronics & Communication / Telecommunication), Metallurgy , Computer Science / Information Technology and Fire Engineering) and 60% in respect of HR discipline (Master of Business Administration or its equivalent 2-year Post-Graduate Diploma with specialization in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations or Human Resource/ Master of Social Work. ) for GEN/OBC candidates and pass class for SC/ST/PH candidates in concerned qualifying Degree examination (Full Time Regular Course), from recognized Indian University / Institute. For BOEs (Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Electrical or Mechanical with Boiler Operation Engineer’s Certificate (1st Class Boiler Proficiency certificate) and minimum 2 years of post BOE experience in the operation of large size Thermal Power Plant having a Coal/Oil/Gas fueled Boiler) the requirement of minimum 65% marks in qualifying Engineering Degree Examination is not applicable. For Finance - CA / ICWA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India / Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.

Reservation : For SC/OBC/PH/EXM as applicable.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 26 years for Engineers/GAEs/Management Graduates(HR) / CAs/ICWAs and 30 years for BOEs (relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years for SC/ST/EXSM, 3 years for OBC & 10 years for Physically Challenged persons).

Selection & Placement : The selection methodology will comprise - Written Test on 6th July, 2008 (objective type consisting of two parts - General Aptitude and Discipline Knowledge), Group Discussion / Group Task and Personal Interview for assessment of different facets of Knowledge, Skill, Attitude and Aptitude. Candidates will have to pass through each stage of selection process successfully before being adjudged as suitable for final selection. Candidates applying for BOE discipline, will not be required to appear in the written test.

Pay: Candidates selected as Engineers / Officers will get a Base Pay of Rs.21528/- p.m. (Basic Pay Rs.12000/- plus DA Rs.9528/-) in the scale of pay of Rs.12000-17500/- and will initially undergo training for a specified period before placement.

Fee: General & OBC candidates are required to send a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 300/- as application fee drawn in INDIAN OIL CORPORATION LIMITED (REFINERIES DIVISION) payable at New Delhi.

Take a print out of your filled in Application Form, put your signature at the space provided for the purpose and send the same by Ordinary Post along with Demand Draft, attested copy of caste/ disability certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH by ordinary post to the Advertiser, Post Box No. 3098, Lodhi Road Head Post Office, New Delhi - 110003, the same should reach the Post Box latest by 26th May, 2008. Write Application for the post of Engineer/Officer in IOCL - 2007, Discipline and Category at the top left-hand corner of the envelope, while sending the print out of the Application Form as above.
