On the 1st of August 2008 we are going to have Solar Eclipse. This will be visible in most part of the world. And in some places we will have a Total Solar Eclipse and this event will occur as the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth for the first time in more than two years.

The scientific communities around the world are very excited about this rare event and they are preparing themselves to watch this Solar Eclipse. Events like this will give lots of information for scientists and they can continue their research with more and more data points.

I am tracking this event closely and will post the actual pictures of this Solar Eclipse on this post. I may not be able to present the LIVE pictures of Solar Eclipse.

About AUGUST 1st 2008 Solar Eclipse
So the eclipse that we are going to have on this FRIDAY will last for a few minutes, the moon will black out the sun, casting its dark shadow over a narrow, moving strip of land and revealing the sun's corona.



Total Solar Eclipse on 1st August 2008
This Solar Eclipse will be visible only from remote parts of the Northern Hemisphere - Starting in northern Canada, the moon's shadow, or umbra, will glide across the Arctic into central Asia. Some parts of India will also be able to see this Solar Eclipse between 4:30 and 6:30 PM IST.

This kind of Total Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan as it is called in India) is a very rare event in the life time. In case you are planning to see this event then ensure that you are protected and take all the precautionary measures to watch the Solar Eclipse LIVE

Information on Solar Eclipse

For beginners to understand what a Solar Eclipse is you can go to many useful resources available online. Here are some good pointers to get some online information on Solar Eclipse.

Timings of Solar Eclipse in different parts of the world:

India: will start around 4:00 PM and last till 6:30PM
North Eastern Parts of India can see more of this Eclipse

A total eclipse will be visible in Canada extending across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia and China.

In Delhi, the eclipse will start at 4:03 PM and end at 5:56 PM. It will be maximum at 5:02 PM

In Mumbai it will from 4:27 PM to 6:03 PM, while in Chennai it will be visible from 4:40 PM to 6:07 PM and in Kolkata it will be seen between 4:18 PM and 6:02 PM

In northern Canada, the Arctic, and Asia. The total eclipse begins at 09:21:07 UT in Canada, crosses Greenland and the Arctic Ocean into Russia and Mongolia, and ends in China at 11:21:28 UT.

The maximum eclipse is at 10:21:08 UT, when the total phase will last just under 2½ minutes or 150 seconds

The partial eclipse will be visible over north-eastern Canada, most of these continents Asia and Europe, and the Middle East between 08:04:07 UT and 12:38:28 UT.

The residents of Novosibirsk will be the lucky ones as they can see a Total Solar Eclipse lasting for more than 2 minutes.

After a long wait for rains, the dry spell in Maharashtra is hopefully coming to an end. But the bad part is severe rains continue to pour in Mumbai and the city is full of water.

Just a reminder that Mumbai rains sometimes be very bad and it will affect the city and most importantly the lifeline of Mumbai which is the railway network.

The latest from Mumbai News is that heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai and the city has not yet reported major water logging, although some water logging is being seen in some low lying areas. the city transportation, western railway network and airport etc are functioning normally and no major problem has been reported due to these Mumbai rains on 28th July 2008.

I would like to remind all my readers that 3 years back we have seen some major rains around the same part of the year which left Mumbai in a bad condition and the transportation system failed badly then.

The nearby Pune city is also seeing continuous rains and there will be some effect on Pune weather because of Mumbai rains.

News from Bangalore - Reports of Serial Bomb Blasts - 9 blasts reported

A day after serial bombs exploded in Bangaluru, today a live bomb was diffused near a shopping mall. There are rumors fast spreading and people who were returning back to normalcy again are in a state of panic. I request all Bangalore people to be calm and support the administration as much as they can and ensure life is back to routine in the city.

Breaking news from Bangalore - 25th July 2008

11:00PM - After the bomb blasts, the administration is taking all efforts to bring back life to normalcy. Traffic jams are eased, and just any other city people Bangalore will come to normalcy and get on with the things.

9 blasts rock Bengaluru - Low intensity bomb blasts continue

The eighth blast blast took place at Hosaguddahalli, near Gopalan Mall on Mysore road at around 5.30 pm
The ninth blast took place near the Army Engineering College on Mysore Road at 6.30 pm.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters --
"In all the blasts, low intensity time devices (Gelatin Sticks material) were used. They want to cause damage to human lives. Explosives were used in quantity equal to one to two grenades," he said.

The police also said the intention is to scare, not kill.

7 blasts rock Bangalore; two killed, 20+ wounded

Several persons have been injured in the attack and they have been admitted to the St Johns Hospital in Koramangala - Bangalore this is near to Forum Mall and Madivala

Somnath Chatterjee expelled from CPM

The trust vote that took place in India Parliament yesterday is getting into the after effect stage with parties taking action against the MPs who worked against their parties direction / whip.

The present Loksabha speaker was also not spared and Mr Somnath Chatterjee was expelled from CPIM party, the party leaders took the decision today by stating that nothing is beyond the CPIM parties rules and constitution.

Somnath Chatterjee can still continue as the speaker of the lower house in the parliament, it will be a sad ending to a long political career for Somnath.

Other parties are also taking actions on their party MPs - BJP, TDP, MDMK, BJD - some of these party members participate in cross voting which let the UPA to scape through the tense Trust Vote.

2009 Election Analysis

2008 No Confidence Motion
Now that UPA has won the Trust Vote in parliament it will be very interesting to see the political and economical developments that are due. The financial brains of the Congress party may probably wanted this to happen earlier so that they could push as many reforms as they can. We can expect some bills to be passed, some increase in FDI in some of the sectors.

But all this has not come for free - there is a huge price that the UPA is preparing to pay -to all that it has promised for small parties - in return for voting for the UPA. There will be some cabinet changes that we can expect soon.

Dr Manmohan singh, the Prime Minister of India has come stronger than he ever was - people in Congress party circles are floating that he along with Sonia Gandhi will be the star players in election campaign for the next general elections.

Some Congress party and UPA members are not so excited because of the deal with SP - they are aware that this is not going to be a long term alliance, but has definitely changed the equations in UP.

One big loser - as a party - in this whole Trust vote deal is BJP - they lost their image in this process and they lost some sympathy also - clearly it is showing some lack of strong leadership on their front. Advani must not have attacked Dr Manmohan Singh personally - (as reported by some news papers). BJP will need to do a lot to get back on track - may be they will want the general elections as late as possible.

Congress did see a victory in this but they may eventually lose the war - as someone said another victory like this will make them very weak. But the party did gain some supporters in this process, only because of the opposition's willingness to bring down the government.

The single major gain in the no confidence and INDO-US nuclear deal is BSP - not sure how much UNPA gained. BSP now has all the ammunition to attack both the UPA and NDA.

It will be interesting to track the developments on the Communist parties, political circles are mentioning about some kind of rift in CPI-M. They too lost few good friends in this process. One of the eminent South India person said - If the left has future in India then India has no future left.

Time will only tell about everything ...

India is going through some tense moments as the Trust vote will happen today to decide the fate of the government - ruling UPA Coalition against opposition NDA + UNPA + CPIM, there are many speculations and number games that are being floated about the outcome and result of this Trust Vote.

Most of the TV News Channels are covering this and are showing Live pictures from Lok Sabha about the debate that is going on in the lower house of the Parliament. Yesterday Pranab, Advani did speak and today Laloo Yadav and Rahul Gandhi and Finance Minsiter are going to speak.

The entire world is watching very keenly about the Trust Vote Results, as the outcome will impact few other nations. There is a mixed response from the people of India about the side they are taking on the No Confidence motion.

Its just like a penalty shoot out or a 20-20 bowl out - its anybodies game at this point of time, if there is a tie then it will be the speaker to decide whom he is going to vote.

TV Channels like NDTV Live, CNN IBN, Star News, ZEE News, DD News, TV9 are covering this topic all the time by giving updates through 24 hours Live news on Lok Sabha proceedings.

For a common man it is very difficult to take sides as the awareness about the INDO-US Nuclear deal is not there - and it is kind of complex to look at the entire picture very clearly. As long as this deal protects India's sovereignty and pride and get us lots of job without spoiling the environment then this should be fine. But no one is giving the exact picture on these issues. May be some non-political learned men must come forward and speak on DD, NDTV, AAj Tak, Star News, ZEE News, CNN IBM, BBC.

This is a new site I found which gives good information about Pune - everything about Pune can be found here at a very quick glance. The universities of Pune, Educational Information and through these you can get into any results and admissions information.

One thing about this site is that this site punenet.net is not working in Mozilla firefox, but when you try to open the same site in Internet Explorer, this site works - I am not sure why, but in Mozilla it is giving some code - Looks like it is in VB.NET.

Also there seems to be some search activity going on based on these keywords - I am not aware of any major news, but if you guys know that there is any latest updates related to results in Pune or in Pune University and that is the reason why there is some activity around this then let me know I will include the same here as comments.

The action is not shifting from sports, music and movie channels to channels that are showing and covering the Indian Politics news and updates.

Lok Sabha TV is all set and the proceedings in the Loksabha about the Trust vote and No confidence motion will be shown Live. This will be very interesting to see how different people express their views and how the ruling UPA government is gearing up to respond to the opposition parties - NDA, Communists, BSP and the UNPA.

The number game is very tight and the trust will be very close and we just cannot predict anything till it comes. BREAKING NEWS:
UPA WINS TRUST VOTE: 275 - 256

TRUST VOTE: FINAL COUNTING ON

India will soon go through a major climax this tuesday when the ruling Congress led UPA government will face a trust vote. This situation is because of the nuclear deal - the ruling coalition government wants to go the for the deal and the opposition is against it.

Communist party CPIM was supporting the UPA government for more than 4 years now, with elections due in less than a year - this withdrawal of support to UPA from CPIM has led to utter chaos in the political circles in India.

The BJP led main opposition party NDA is also against the deal and is doing its very best to topple the government. Smaller parties at state level who have even 1 seat are in the commanding position because of the tight number situation.

Apparently there is news that lot of horse trading is going on and both Congress and its allies, NDA and its allies + Communists parties are doing their best to keep theirs and their supporting parties folks together.

There are few members of parliament who are in jail and hospital etc, the party leaders who they belong to are doing their best to bring them to the Parliament to participate in the trust vote. Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi is all determined to push the Nuclear Deal and so is the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Speculations about Mayawati from BSP being the PM of India

The ruling party in Uttar Pradesh BSP led by Mayawati is supporting the opposition and Mayawati is doing all she can to brind down the UPA government in India. If the Government loses the trust vote and the entire opposition is united then they may have a chance to form the government and in this case there are indications and some parties are floating the idea of making Mayawati as the Prime Minister of India - even though this will be for a short term.

If this is the case then it will be an history for independent India since she will be the first Dalit Prime Minister of India.

Political heat is increasing and gaining momentum with small parties are holding on to the cards till the last minute. The people of India are not clear about the pros and cons of this Nuclear deal. In other countries opposition political parties come together in war like situations, in India they are coming together to bring down the government.

Anyways, I am very eager to see the result of this trust vote. If Congress led UPA wins the trust vote then we will be seeing a lot of initiatives from them and also aggressiveness in going to the people for the next year's general elections in 2009.

As per the latest notifications here are the details of the Muhurat trading on National and Bombay Stock Exchanges

The trading timings of the Muhurat Trading Session for the Samavat Year 2065 for the Cash and Derivative Segments, and for Currency Derivatives, on Tuesday, October 28 2008 will be as follows:-

Trading Timing - 6.15 PM to 7.15 PM
Post closing (NSE) - 7.35 PM to 7.45 PM
Post closing (BSE) - 7.25 PM to 7.45 PM

The transactions done during the Muhurat Trading Session are to be settled as a separate settlement .

Sun Outage - Notifications from BSE and NSE

The BSE and NSE will extend trading hours from 24 September 2008 on account of disruption of satellite services due to sun outage. Trading will start as usual at 9.55 IST, but will be suspended between 11.25 IST and 12.10 IST.

The day’s session will end at 16.15 IST. The new trading timing due to the Sun Outage will be effective till 8 October 2008.

The site also has some important information about the load on the server when the NBU University results are announced - this is something good that I noticed on this site, as this is the results and admissions season many educational, university websites are taking high loads and most of them dont show up when the results or other important notifications are announced. There is some news from Bangalore that some incident took place in the morning and that has caused some disturbances in Bangalore city. This incident is related to religion so I am sure the issue and city will be very sensitive.

Earlier I though that this is some kind of a rumor but later on most of the TV channels and news sources started reporting - Udaya TV, TV9 Kannada, Times, CNN IBN, Aaj Tak and NDTV are covering this news.

There is some 144 section implemented in parts of Bangalore - JC Nagar area. I hope these will not lead into big Riots and the police and administration will do their best to return the city to normalcy.

Bangalore is the IT hub in India and mostly it has been free from Communal riots.

We will have results from the ITB today - 8th July 2008. Indian Testing Board is the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) approved national board for India. This testing board from India - ITB is responsible for conducting tests and exams which will give the successful candidates the testing certification.

This Certification is referred to as "ISTQB-Certified-Tester" Certification in India.

22nd June Exam Results would be declared on 8th July 2008.
