CAT RESULTS The results of CAT 2008 will be available from January 9th 2009 on the cat website: www.catiim.in. The scores can be accessed by keying in the test registration number and either the date of birth (preferred) or the cat application number.

CAT-takers can also access their CAT-2008 scores by using SMS facility of mobile phones. For SMS, candidate can type ‘CAT test registration number date of birth (ddmmyy)’ or ‘CAT test registration number application number for example: CAT 5370082 030482 or CAT 5370082 123456 and SMS to 57333.

CAT RESULTS by E-MAIL: Candidates who wish to get their results by e-mail should register themselves between October 24, 2008 and November 30, 2008 by sending an SMS to 57333 as follows: ‘CAT registration number date of birth (ddmmyy) email id’

India beats Australia by 320 Runs

It was yet another good show by Dhoni and team today as they won the second cricket test match at Mohali by a huge margin of 320 runs. The 5th day started with Australia trying to save the match and India looking towards closing up the things. Zaheer Khan bowled extremely well in the morning to get the break through and also pickup quick wickets. The lone battle of Michael Clarke didn't last long as he saw the wickets crumble at the other end.

This is India big margin of victory in recent times and definitely a big one against the Aussies. There are celebrations all over the ground and everyone played their bit in ensuring a good victory and Diwali gift for Indian Cricket fans. This is a result of good team work by the Indian Cricket team.

India now leads the 4 test Border-Gavaskar trophy cricket series by 1-0, with two more tests to go India needs just another victory to win the series. Australia will have to work hard to put things together and ensure that they give a tough fight in the series.

Send congratulations to Indian cricket team for their superb victory over Australia.

Looks like new results and notifications are available from the University of Rajasthan, I tried accessing their website but nothing is showing up. I tried the homepage uniraj.ernet.in and also the results page at http://result.uniraj.ernet.in/. But both are giving a network time out error.

Just wanted to write an article related to technology. These days after the launch of Microsoft office 2007 the document formats and the file extensions of the documents have changed. And many students and job applicants tend to create the resumes and bio data in formats that may not be compatible with the end users.

So lot of times people who are using the latest version of Microsoft Office tend to save the documents in the latest Microsoft Office 2007 format, and when these documents are send to others who still are using the previous versions of Microsoft office then there will be a compatibility issue and the documents will not open.

So here are the tips to open docx, xlsx files

1. The simplest things is to see if you can upgrade your Microsoft Office to the latest version

2. Else, you may want to ask the sender to save it in the Office 2003 format and send the document to you

3. If you are using previous version of Microsoft Office then you need to install the Microsoft compatibility pack. This compatibility pack will provide .docx, .xlsx support in Microsoft Word for any previous Office versions.

4. The Microsoft Office Compatibility pack is available for download on the Microsoft Site

5. If you are using Windows and don’t have any version of Microsoft Office then the simple thing is to Download the Word Viewer application from Microsoft that opens .docx documents. This will help you read the documents in .docx format, however you will not be able to change the contents

6. Docx Converter: This tool converts Docx file Html format so that it viewed on any browser.

Initial Fixation for Pensioners: Formula: For pre-2006 pensioners, 2.26 times of the basic pension. For post-2006 pensioners, (basic*2.26/1.5) will provide new basic. For the pay scale '8000-275-13500', there are 2 entries. S-15A corresponds to 'Group A' and S-15B corresponds to 'Group B'. S-15A is applicable for those who got the scale by 'direct' recruitment and S-15B is applicable for those who got the scale by 'review'.

For some pay scales (like '6500-200-10500'), there are more than one entry (like S-12, S-12A, S-12B). The scales ending with 'A' / 'B' are applicable for 'selective' posts only, where as the other one is for 'normal' fixation. Rules Adopted:
Basic Pay Fixation: Old Basic as on 01-01-2006 * 1.86 + Grade Pay (for the pay bands upto 'PB-3').

For the 'PB-4' pay band scales, because of the 'sweeping' jumps, the above mentioned formula is NOT applicable. For these scales, the fixation is as per the list available in the Sixth CPC Report (Refer: Table:2.2.2).

New D.A.Rates: 0% from 01-01-2006, 2% from 01-07-2006; 6% from 01-01-2007; 9% from 01-07-2007; 12% from 01-01-2008 and 16% from 01-07-2008.

New HRA and New Transport Allowance applicable from 01-09-2008 onwards.

Transport Allowance applicable for those staying in quarters also.

Transport Allowance increases whenever D.A. is increased.

Old D.A. Rate: 47% from 01-01-2008 onwards.

No Stagnation in the New scale.

No CCA in the New scale.

Increment: 3% of basic pay and Increment Month: July. The 'arrived' new basic pay is rounded off to the next higher 10 rupee.
