The Karnataka Common Entrance Test dates have been announced and as mentioned above CET 2009 will be conducted in 2 days on 29th and 30th of April 2009. Every year KCET is conducted for admissions into various colleges/universities within the state of Karnataka for First year and/or First Semester full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses.

A detailed notification for Karnataka CET 2009 will be released soon, I will have the information here whenever the application notification is released.

In addition to this there will be another entrance exam that is held in the state of Karnataka - COMEDK, this id conducted by the Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association under the name of Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK).

Notification for COMEDK 2009 is also not released, once that comes out I will update this post with the latest on COMEDK 2009.

News from the Press Trust of India, Government release about the salary hike for Central Public Sector Undertakings - PSU's. This has come at a time when the mood in the job sector is looking grim.

So in a way this is a bonanza to officers of PSU's in India - the hike percentage will be around 50-300% in pay packaged. The effective date of this PSU Salary hike will be from January 1 2007.

According to PTI News -

While the new pay structure would be implementable from January 1, 2007, the new allowances would accrue to employees only after the decision is notified by individual units.

The Cabinet relied on the Committee of Secretaries recommendations to classify PSUs into four categories - A, B, C and D, instead of five categories - A+, A, B, C and D recommended by the Rao Committee in May.

I.Applications are invited from Indian nationals either through http://www.education.nic.in/ or on plain paper in the FORMAT (http://www.education.nic.in/scho_announcements/ukcommonwealth2009-scheme.asp) for nominations from India for the award of Commonwealth Scholarship tenable in United Kingdom from October 2009 for higher studies/research/specialized training in the subject mentioned below in the United Kingdom.

Up to Sixty (60) nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection to be made by them. Out of these not more than 35 (thirty five) are for one year Master’s Degree Course/Six months clinical training and twenty two (25) are for three year’s Ph.D. Course and 1 year Research on Split-Site basis.

IMT Dubai Admissions and Application Procedure

IMT Dubai is looking for young, motivated, high caliber students eager to enhance their business knowledge and international exposure.

Eligibility Criteria

IMT-Dubai typically seeks the following in successful applicants:

* Satisfactory Academic Standing

Applicants to the MBA Program must be holding an undergraduate degree (Bachelorís degree) from an accredited university. Applicants are expected to have a CGPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students with a CGPA between 2.50 ñ 2.99 may be admitted on probation basis.

* Proficiency in English

Applicants whose native tongue is not English are required to take an English Proficiency Test. The minimum required score for Toefl is 550 (paper-based) and 80 (internet-based) or 6.0 for IELTS.

* Work Experience

Although work experience is not mandatory, applicants with previous business experience are given preference.

Application Procedure

To apply candidates who fulfil the eligibility conditions above can apply for admission, as follows:

1. Submit the completed and signed application form which can be downloaded from IMT web site www.imtdubai.org.

2. Remit a non refundable application fee of AED 150 or INR 1,600 along with the application form.

3. Gather the documentation required:

* Photocopies of all previous degree(s) and all marksheets (transcripts). If the applicant has not yet completed the final year examination at the time of application, all the marksheets (transcripts) except the final year should be attached.

* Copy of the score cards for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Combined Admissions Test (CAT).

* Copy of the score cards for the TOEFL / IELTS

4. Attend a personal interview, for applicants meeting the above-mentioned criteria. The personal interview is a major component of the selection process, allowing IMT to evaluate the applicantís aptitude, motivation and suitability for the program.

NATIONAL INFORMATICS OLYMPIAD 2008-09 Announcement

Announcement related to NATIONAL INFORMATICS OLYMPIAD 2008-09 - news taken from CBSE.nic.in webiste.

The 1st stage examination of the National Informatics Olympiad – 2008-09 will be held on Saturday, the 15th November, 2008 between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm.

The list of centres is put up on the CBSE Website: www.cbse.nic.in as well as on the Olympiad website: www.iarcs.org.in. Please select the nearest examination centre from the list given and forward the list of candidates desirous of participating in the first stage examination to the coordinator along with the examination fee as per the enclosed proforma on or before November 7, 2008.

(The list of participants and bank draft need not be sent to the CBSE as the centre will be forwarding the list to the CBSE subsequently) The fee for each participant will be Rs.100/- (Rupees hundred only). A consolidated demand draft for all the participants of your school may be drawn in favour of Secretary, CBSE, Delhi.

Students in Delhi schools can similarly select one of the five centres in Delhi and forward the list of candidates and demand draft to the coordinator-cum Centre Superintendent.

Hence, the examination would be conducted in the following way:
1. AIPMT (Preliminary) 2009 on 5th April, 2009 - OBJECTIVE TYPE
2. AIPMT (Final) 2009 on 10th May, 2009 - SUBJECTIVE TYPE

It is also brought to the notice that the pattern would be changed from AIPMT-2010 examination.
